This year’s Pineapple CalTrans was a solid gold wrecking crew! We cleaned up with the Biggest Splash and 1st Place in Engineering trophies, plus we had a blast. Our new sand tires took Bob weeks to make, but really made the difference on the Manila Dunes.
Team CalTrans was outstanding. We had a tremendous amount of support during the race, and Patricia Algara provided amazing logistics and lodging. We could not have done it without everyone involved, including little TransMutation and his dance.
We accidentally ran over a reporter who was hiding in the bushes at the bottom of Dead Man’s Drop (even though he had been told not to!) Here is what happened:
